Today, a great wave of sorrow washes over families, friends, brothers and sisters of the heart, from Mexico to the Cayman Islands, from near and far. All, in one united voice, have shared their tears, their prayers, their memories… and above all, the love they carried for Alberto, our Cuchillo Rojo, a man whose kindness, nobility, and warmth touched hundreds of lives.
We will always remember his radiant smile, his generous heart, his humility, and the way he welcomed everyone with respect, tenderness, and joy. Many say he has not left… that he is simply “on a journey,” having gone ahead on the path of the sun, and that one day, somewhere, we will see him again. Others already imagine him volando alto, surrounded by the light of our Heavenly Father, watching over those he loves as he always did with gentleness and devotion.
The messages arriving from everywhere tell the same story:
that of an exceptional man, a faithful friend, a loving father and husband, a compadre, a paisano, an anfitrión perfecto, a guerrero noble.
A man who listened, who offered a helping hand, who shared advice, laughter, and a sincere abrazo.
A man who left a mark… the most beautiful of all: the mark of true love.
To Gris, to his children, and to the whole extended family mourning his loss:
your friends including the great International Pirate Community stand with you.
Their words are your wings, their prayers your strength, their presence your refuge.
May peace descend upon your hearts.
May memories become a balm.
And may Alberto’s light continue to shine in every life he touched.
Buen viaje, querido Alberto.
May your faith guide you toward that eternal peace so many have spoken of.
You will remain forever in our memories, in our stories, and in the great ocean of friendship you helped create.
Fair winds and following seas, Cuchillo Rojo.
We will see you again… on the other side of the sun.
Thanks to Capitain Wes Orneil Galbraith for his leadership in this announcement.
